Pick the occasion and a tone, and I'll set your wording on a real 5 by 7 card as you type, ready to copy into Canva.
Your wording on a 5 by 7 card
Underlined lines will probably wrap on a printed 5 by 7. Shorten them or split them in two.
The card is drawn at true 5 by 7 proportions, and the dashed line is the 0.125 in safe margin. Line breaks here are a fair guide to a Canva layout with a similar typeface and size.
Questions people ask
What order does invitation wording go in?
Who is hosting, the request line, who or what is being celebrated, then the date, the time and the place. Reply details come next, and extras such as a dress note go last, usually in smaller type.
Should I write "and" or "&" on an invitation?
Formal invitations spell out "and" between names. Casual and playful cards can use the ampersand. The builder switches to "and" for you when you pick the formal tone.
What is the difference between "the honour of your presence" and "the pleasure of your company"?
By tradition, "the honour of your presence" is used for a wedding ceremony in a place of worship, and "the pleasure of your company" for every other venue and for parties.
How are the date and time written on a formal invitation?
They are spelled out in words: "Saturday, the fifth of June" with the year as "two thousand twenty-seven", and the time as "half after four o’clock in the afternoon". Casual cards use numerals.
Can I put registry or gift details on the invitation?
Traditional etiquette keeps gift and registry details off a formal invitation. They usually go on a wedding website or a separate insert card. On casual cards a short gift note is common.
